This photograph was made during a week-long workshop in Saint‑Malo, France. Each participant drew a small section of the city from a hat and spent the week working only within that boundary, an exercise designed to slow the process down and force a deeper way of seeing.
This frame was made just outside my assigned area, during a quiet moment inside the old walled city. What caught my attention wasn’t movement, but stillness, the layered storefront, the subtle color, and the sense of human presence without anyone in the frame.
That tension between presence and absence is something I’m drawn to again and again. I’m interested in the marks people leave behind, and the way quiet details can tell a story without showing the actors.
