Standstill At Noon began as a small, strange pause I noticed on a bright afternoon in Schenectady, NY. Two harnessed, sun‑bleached horse sculptures stand shoulder to shoulder, leather glinting, blinders down, while a mannequin watches from the grass with the odd composure of someone who’s late for nothing.

It had the odd logic of an interrupted performance — set pieces aligned, the actors apparently stepped offstage and never returned.

Power lines trace the sky and an industrial building crouches in the distance, turning an ordinary highway verge into a quietly uncanny tableau. Muted tans, field greens, and cool blues lend the image a weathered, cinematic stillness; behind the mannequin, silhouetted buffalo cutouts graze the horizon like a dry, wry footnote, their flat shapes widening the scene’s strange generosity.

Hang this print in a living room, office, or entryway and it will prompt questions, loosen a few smiles, and lend a confident, slightly mysterious voice to your walls — a piece that settles in and starts the conversation.
