Created in 1992 during a trip to Nova Scotia, this image invites a quiet moment of reflection on time’s gentle erosion. The weathered wooden house, captured in stark black and white, stands with a reserved dignity in Pubnico, its shingles uneven and softened by years of exposure. Empty window frames replace what were once eyes watching the world, while boarded openings tell stories of absence and change. Grass edges the base of the structure, offering a subtle contrast—a hint of life persistently surrounding what has otherwise been left behind. This scene resonates with the familiar ache of memory, as if it whispers, “Remember when”—a phrase that lingers softly on the tongue. The simplicity of the composition, balanced with textured details, draws the viewer into a stillness where the past quietly holds its place.
