I head out for a day on the back roads of New England without much of a plan. There is no destination in mind, no checklist of places to visit. The pleasure comes from wandering, following unfamiliar roads, and remaining open to whatever might appear around the next bend.
The photographs in this gallery come from those detours, the moments when curiosity interrupts the drive. A weathered building, a forgotten vehicle, a small church, or an unexpected detail in the landscape is enough to make me pull over. These places are rarely landmarks. Most are easy to pass without a second glance. But for a moment, they ask to be noticed. “Detours” is a collection of those interruptions, gathered one day trip at a time.
