"Falling Down" portrays an abandoned garage mid-collapse: pale turquoise doors folded inward, a sagging roof and tall grass pushing through cracked asphalt. Diagonal lines and the contrast of cool paint against sunlit foliage turn the ruin into both a structural study and a wry comment on permanence.

I made this photo in Searsmont, Maine at the end of summer vacation, when the roadside was quiet and the light felt mellow, an unplanned portrait of decay that still managed to make me smile.
